My morning work day and most weekend routine consists of breakfast soon after I wake up and with it I have a piping hot cup of green tea with a drop or two of honey :). I usually do not skip a beat; pretty sure I have a cup (or two) of green tea a day. I am literally addicted. After years of suffering with stomach pains from eating certain foods and drinking certain beverages and finally receiving an answer to what was truly going on. I found out that I have Gastritis, basically an inflamed stomach lining and I literally cannot eat or drink anything (sometimes that is what it feels like). I have had to cut out fried foods (sometimes I cave a have a the occasional fry but then I deal with the consequences), coffee, chocolate, beer, certain types of tea and tomatoes. Acidic foods bother my stomach and apparently all of the foods that I have had to cut out are extremely acidic, who knew! I have had all of those foods and beverages over the course of my life and I did notice that my stomach would bother me afterwards but I always wrote it off as acid reflux or indigestion and so did the doctors and with that I was prescribed numerous over the counter medicines, that in the end did not work, AT ALL! So needless to say I have had to become creative and try new things in my every day diet. And with that came green tea because it has very little caffeine (which is one of the main components in coffee, chocolate and certain types of tea).
Green tea has become my best friend and I love that it is my go-to for any and everything. This year I received a very fun Christmas gift (a Keurig) and boy was I happy when I found out that they make Green Tea K-Cups and it tastes great! And to top it off it is very, very good for you.

Start the new year off right! Go boil some water in the tea kettle or plug up your Keurig and enjoy a nice hot cup of green tea. You can also have fun with green tea because there are so many options and flavors and you can have it hot or cold. I prefer hot and I prefer the regular plain green tea and I just add honey, in place of sugar. I have two, sometimes three cups of green tea a day to get the most out of how beneficial it is, but it is entirely up to you how many cups you choose to indulge in ;)!
